Project:Connect
Learning about
technology
through technology
|
The
BellSouth Pioneers has committed to distributing more than 20,000 CDs of
the TelecomPioneer’s
new signature education project, Project:Connect, to schools throughout
our nine-state region. Project:Connect challenges students to learn
lessons in technology by playing computer games
featuring products and services of the telecommunications industry.
|
The seven games are: |
- E-Mail:Connect
-
Compression:Connect
- Fiber
Optic:Connect
- Cable:Connect
- Satellite:Connect
- Cellular:Connect,
- VoIP:Connect.
|
“We're delighted to
offer students in our region this fun and educational program,” said Mary
Boehm,
vice president – BellSouth Pioneers. “Project:Connect offers elementary
and middle school students
the opportunity to learn about modern telecommunications through a medium
in which they’re definitely familiar – computer games – at no cost to
themselves or their schools.”
Project:Connect targets 4th through 7th graders. Each game features free
classroom-ready Internet access, Windows and Mac compatibility, and
availability in English and Canadian French. Also
included with each game is: |
- A
student-friendly user guide with built-in instructions on how to play
the game.
- A facilitator
guide featuring detailed step-by-step instructional procedures keyed to
content learning objectives and national education standards.
- A technical
glossary and integrated instruction and game simulation approach.
- On-screen “gurus”
that feature the pioneers of telecommunications technology, providing
help
your students can understand.

| Project:Connect is
